Sam's Profile

I suppose you could call me a creature of habit.

I started work as a postman when I left school and here I am years later still with the Royal Mail. My days of pounding the streets are long gone though. They’ve got me in the office managing one of the IT teams these days. Much more my thing.Fern teases me sometimes. I think she wishes I was a more of a risk taker, says I play it too safe and that I should get myself a job with one of those big internet companies. I’d be earning a fortune, according to her. But one of us has got to be the sensible one. Fern says she’s saving for our big Florida holiday, but she can spend money like it’s going out of fashion!Vern’s already given me the heads up on these new energy efficient windows that are suddenly the talk of the street, warned me that Fern will soon be wanting them too. I can see the sense in them, as our windows badly need replacing. But I’m not sure the time is right. Things are a bit dodgy at work at the moment, so I might not have a choice when it comes to looking for a new job. Trying not to think about it though, but the last thing I need right now is a big project. I’m afraid Fern’s going to have to take no for an answer for the time being. It would be nice to cut out some of the draughts though. And to reduce our energy bills. It’s the kids and the weekends that help me take my mind off things. If I’m not enjoying a kick about down the park or taking the kids swimming, then you can find me slumped on Vern’s sofa watching F1 or tagging along on one of his boys’ weekends, especially if it’s racing or karting or something like that. I can’t help but like the driving ones – what is it with boys and cars eh?!
